An Introduction to Transactional Analysis (TA101)
This two day professional and personal workshop is a comprehensive experiential introduction to the philosophy and core concepts of Transactional Analysis (TA). This training weekend can lead to varied options of learning within the TA community. While this is the official introduction to Transactional Analysis participants might end their experience here or they might like to go onto an internationally agreed syllabus and covering the basic theory.

Towards an understanding of core competencies in relational psychoanalysis: a one- day workshop
This one- day workshop will encourage debate and exploration about the possibilities and limitations of core competencies in relational psychotherapy/psychoanalysis and reference the work of Barsness et al, 2018* whose research has attempted to bridge this theory-practice gap by identifying seven areas of relational therapeutic competencies. We will do this by engaging in didactic teaching, discussion and the use of clinical material.

Past activities of ACIS staff & trainers
Elana Leigh and Servaas van Beekum attended and presented at the world Transactional Analysis Conference.
“Boundaries- a place to meet, to develop, to define identity”. In collaboration with Jo Stuthdridge, Elana Leigh presents: Breaking down the walls, exploring the links between personal script and professional identity. This workshop explored the links between personal and professional identity tracking the journey from Klein’s paranoid schizoid position to the depressive. This was well attended and interesting discussions emerged which will be further explored in future workshops and papers.
Metanoia Institute - Two-day workshop on Trauma past and present-From Freud to Crastnopol
This workshop traced the evolution of theories on trauma at both the macro and micro level. This is facilitated as part of an options weekend at Metanoia Institute for counselling and psychotherapy in London. The participants are from all 4 years of the Master’s degree courses in Transactional Analysis and Integrative psychotherapy.
International Association of Relational Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist (IARPP)
“From the Margins to the Centre - Contemporary Relational Perspectives”
This international conference is held in Sydney NSW, with over 400 attendees from 20 countries.

This paper addressed the issue of centrality and marginality through the realm of sibling dynamics.
Jo Frasca presents
“How well do our clients know us”
Jo draws on material from her book, asking the profession to consider how they might each individually identify the way in which they work and how a client might know the difference. This was also in light of many practitioners having trained in various fields. It was well attended and there was lively, supportive discussion.

In this workshop Jo draws the group into active and vibrant discussion on the differing professions in mental health. There is extensive group discussion and development of ideas in the hope some might find it way back to the Peak Body to further develop awareness in counselling and psychotherapy.

Jo Frasca - Book launch
Delving Deeper: Understanding diverse approaches while exploring psychotherapy. In this book Jo explores the machinations of working with a psychotherapist. While the book is aimed at the general public (as opposed to the profession) and clarifies the ‘users’ experience of being in psychotherapy, it also draws out the difference a potential client may experience working with a counsellor, psychiatrist or psychologists. The book is an attempt to educate the public about the profession in the hope that they might become better informed when seeking treatment.
