The Relational Consultant: Group Relations and Transactional Analysis in Organizations:
Transactional analysis (TA) offers theory and practice of human personality and about personality of organizations and a way of understanding human and organizational origins, dynamics and interactions. TA is based on psycho-dynamic and humanistic roots, was developed by founder dr. Eric Berne, a psychiatrist by profession and further developed by many authors and practitioners.
Group relations (GR) offers theory of understanding unconscious dynamics in groups, organizations and large systems and offers methodology of working with those dynamics. GR is based in psycho dynamic and systemic roots, originally developed by people as dr. Wilfried Bion, A.K. Rice and dr. Eric Miller, psychoanalysts by profession and further developed by many authors and practitioners.
Both modalities have been proven highly effective for working with organizational issues and organizational clients
Elements of the training
Way of working
The training is set up from experience. This includes a high level of involvement in your training. Supervision cases will be used to highlight input from theory and methodological discussions. In addition, the ongoing study of the own group process will be central in understanding a psycho-dynamic way of working as a consultant.
Trainees are expected to take actively part in the training. Part of that is writing assessments after each seminar. The preparation towards the international certification as a transactional analyst (CTA), is introduced over time into the program, for those who wish so.
The November seminar is set up as a “mini Group Relations Conference” with extended staff and will be also open for people from outside the training system.
All hours of training (5x 24 + 4x8 = 152 hours) count for Professional Development accreditation, for AAoS / EASC accreditation, for associate membership in Group Relations Australia and for preparation as Organizational Certified Transactional Analyst (CTA).

Long Term perspective
Though this year of training is a learning unit in its own right, it is also part of a long term training system, including examination as a certified transactional analyst. The full criteria for this examination can be explored on the ITAA website (www.itaa-net.org)
When you are interested in and new to this program, you will have an intake and assessment interview with the trainer (send a CV in advance please), at the end of which the mutual decision to join (or not join) can be made.
Because this is medium term planning, both for you and for the training, it is advised to have your intake interview any time soon.
